An ideal 3 day itinerary for anyone wanting to explore the Great Ocean Road but may not have a lot of time!
DAY ONE:
Melbourne -> Geelong
- Geelong Waterfront (including the Pier & Carousel)
- Geelong Botanical Gardens
- Eastern Beach or Thirteenth Beach
LOCAL VEGAN EATS: Dollys Sister Vegan Cafe & Bar
Geelong -> Bell’s Beach
- Official start of the Great Ocean Road
- Photo stop at world renowned surf beach
Bell’s Beach -> Split Point Lighthouse
- Functioning lighthouse – open daily for tours
- Made famous from the Australian TV show – Round the Twist
Split Point Lighthouse -> Lorne
- Great Otway National Park
- Erskine Falls
- Sheoak Falls
- Phantom Falls
- Teddy’s Lookout
LOCAL VEGAN EATS: Potato Scallop Burger and Chippies from local Fish & Chip shop – MUST be eaten by the beach.
Lorne -> Apollo Bay
- Sunset by the ocean
- Check In Accommodation
LOCAL VEGAN EATS: Sandy Feet Café & Health Foods
DAY TWO:
Apollo Bay -> 12 Apostles
- Photo Stop
12 Apostles -> Loch Ard Gorge
- Photo stop
Loch Ard Gorge -> The Arch, Port Campbell
- Photo stop
The Arch -> London Bridge
- Photo stop
London Bridge -> The Grotto
- Photo stop
The Grotto -> Warrnambool & Port Fairy
- Bay of Islands
- Breakwater Rock Pier
- Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village
- Logan Beach Lookout
- Griffiths Island
- Official end of the Great Ocean Road
LOCAL VEGAN EATS: Day Kitty Cafe
DAY THREE:
Depending on time available before flight back out of Melbourne (allow 2.5 – 3 hours travel time), other activities to include:
- Otway Fly Treetop Adventure
- The Gables lookout and walk
- Marriner’s lookout and waterfall
- Melba Gully
- Cape Otway
- Mait’s Rest
- Marengo Reefs Marine Sanctuary
- Great Ocean Walk (stretches from Apollo Bay to 12 Apostles)
Cool. 12 Apostles!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have seen it so many times… Gotta take some shots of that! One day!

Wow! I wish there was an area near me that I could travel for 3 days and see the sights that you saw. I live in Midwestern US and it can get pretty bland here, between the constant flat, grass-covered prairies, and the dusty, meager trees that occasionally speck the horizon! I certainly miss the ocean.

I am fortunate only living an hour or so from the east coast of Australia but there’s definitely so much I have yet to see. It’ll definitely feel all the more special for you when you get a chance to be by the ocean again 🙂
