“INVESTMENT IN TRAVEL IS INVESTMENT IN YOURSELF” – MATTHEW KARSTEN
Barcelona is such a quirky city with its beautiful architecture, imaginative food, vibrant people and animated street life. I only had two days in Barcelona, but I felt I made great use of my time here and you can too! This bucket-list for Barcelona is a great guide to making the most of this dynamic city in the time you have.
1. VISIT THE AWE-INSPIRING SAGRADA FAMILIA
This world famous Basilica will have you speechless! There is no way to describe just how spectacular it is. If you only have time to do one thing in Barcelona, this has to be it! I highly recommend organising tickets before you go. The line can be hours long and time is of the essence!
2. EXPERIENCE A FLAMENCO PERFORMANCE
If you love to be immersed and experience local culture when you travel, book yourself in to watch a Flamenco show. They’re great fun! You could easily tick off two items on your bucket-list by pairing a flamenco performance with dinner as well and ultimately…
3. ENJOY A TAPAS FEAST!
One could easily spend all of their time eating whilst visiting Barcelona. The food here is incredible! Tapas is one of the most preferred ways to experience the delicious food on offer as the portions are small and allow you to taste a great range of dishes without getting full too quickly.
4. HIKE MONTJUI
A great climb up to Montjui will have you working off all that Tapas in no time! The views from here are some of the best in Barcelona and it’s completely free to enjoy. There’s also some great landmarks on Montjui including the Olympic Stadium, Tibidabo Amusement Park and Castell de Montjuïc.
5. EXPLORE THE GOTHIC QUARTER
Take some time to walk through this beautiful part of the city, there is a lot of history behind it with many of the buildings having been built in medieval times. It is a place to enjoy during the day and at night; just be sure to bring your camera for some great photo opps!
6.WALK LA RAMBLA
La Rambla is the city’s central thoroughfare bustling with great entertainment, exclusive shopping, glorious food, and an energetic atmosphere. There’s always something happening!
7. ENJOY THE VIEW FROM PARK GUELL
Undeniably one of Barcelona’s most iconic images is the view from Park Guell. Featuring some of Gaudi’s impressive art, this public park overlooks the city of Barcelona showing off just how spectacular this city is. Be sure to check out other works from Gaudi scattered throughout Barcelona!
8. VISIT THE PICASSO MUSEUM
Open everyday (except Monday’s) from 9:00AM to 7:00PM, The Museu Picasso houses one of the most spectacular collections by the world-famous Spanish artist, Pablo Picasso. For any art lover out there, this is an experience not to be missed!
9. DRINK SANGRIA WITH EVERY MEAL
This much-loved Spanish beverage is the perfect combination of red wine, brandy, sweetener and chopped fruit. SO DELICIOUS! You will want to have it with every meal. Sangria breakfast is a thing, right?
10. WATCH THE MAGIC FOUNTAIN OF MONTJUIC LIGHT & MUSIC SHOW
There are light and music performances from May to September on Thursday through to Sunday every half-hour from 9:00pm – 11:00pm. During October to April it’s only Fridays and Saturdays between 7:00pm and 8:30pm. It gets very busy, but it’s worth checking out!

Spectacular photos, I felt I started the day with a little vacation;00 Thanks, Johanna

I just got back from 2 weeks of Barcelona, and it is such a beautiful city! ❤️
Next time you go, you should check out the Bunkers del Carmel, it has such an amazing 360 view over the whole city, whilst still in the city! Lovely ruins and it’s a nice hike up there. Totally worth it! It’s not too touristy either, so it’s a perfect spot to grab a bottle of wine and hang out with friends and enjoy the view.
And Parc Güell! another masterwork of Gaudi. A must in Barcelona! =)

We’ve just come back from a month in Spain, including ten days in Barcelona. Those Spaniards really know how to live!

Great! I hope that Barcelona has finally recovered from its mournful incidents. (You can check my page and my site: https://goo.gl/HK6iXX)

I’m sure it will take some time for Barcelona to fully recover, but I hope it doesn’t deter people from visiting this extraordinary city!

We honeymooned in Barcelona. Sadly the pickpockets put us off ever returning.

Sadly there are many pickpockets in Barcelona 😦 I hope you still had a wonderful honeymoon!

Oh we did. We saw wild parakeets in a park, drank sangria overlooking a harbour, visited a mammoth exhibition and misjudged the queues for Pablo Picasso. The food was terrific and the locals even more so, with the exception of the pickpockets.
